Sunday Food Prep – Taking a little help

Every Sunday afternoon I spent some time in the kitchen to prepare my meals and snacks for the week.  With a busy schedule of two jobs, training for a marathon, and being a wife and mom, planning and prepping for the week ahead is critical to my success. I love sitting down to plan out my meals for the week. I thumb through my cookbooks in the kitchen and read blogs online – there is inspiration galore all around us!  I also love spending time in the kitchen making healthy meals for myself or my family.  But when it comes down to it, some weeks I just don’t have the time.  And to be honest, the kitchen can be a place of temptation for me.  As I prep the meals and snacks for the week, I find myself taking bites and tastes of things, and before long, I’ve consumed quite a few calories that were not planned for in my day.  Recognizing that I have this weakness, and a lack of time as of late, I decided to enlist in some help.

I had heard of a new service for our area that delivers meals to your home, Evolve Paleo Chef.  They are new to my area with plans to open a storefront soon.  When they do so, then I will be able to just pick the meals up from their store.  Each week they have a new selection of menu items to select with an eight-week rotation.  They also have meals plans available.  I opted to select the meals that fit with my needs this week as I am prepping for the New Orleans Rock-N-Roll marathon in two weeks.  The meal and snack options are all Paleo friendly, which fits well with my dietary needs.  Each week you place your order by Thursday evening, and then Sunday afternoon the food is delivered to you in portioned out containers.  Perfect!!  I received my first delivery earlier today, and I must say, it was great not spending all that time in my kitchen.  I still did some food prep, as I opted to make my own breakfasts and snacks, but my time spent in the kitchen was considerably less and that also meant less snacking!  I’m super excited for them to open their store so I can stop in and pick up fresh pressed juices and foods throughout the week.

So here’s a quick peek at some of my food prep and my order from Evolve.  It feels great knowing I’m ready for the week and I won’t have to worry about fixing dinner when I get home late in the evenings.

  1. I have not used a food service but I’d be all about it- especially for lunch or busy weeknights! My hubby doesn’t get home until 7pm most evenings and it’s always hectic!
