I woke up to a little surprise this morning – a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. What?? I thought they said 50’s?? Apparently we’ll be getting both in one day. That’s Nebraska weather for you. Either way, I’m planning to get outside for my run today. I’ve been running indoors on the treadmill way to much recently, and it is showing in my performance when I do actually run outside. I had the opportunity to meet up with some new faces this weekend to do my long run. The morning started off a little rocky. We had gotten a fresh dusting of snow, just enough to cover the trails. Just enough to cover the pesky little ice patches. I knew they were there, so I took it slow, but it was inevitable. I took a spill on the trail – Face. First. Yes, my feet flew back behind me and blam! It sounded a little something like this #$@&%*! I had every intention of calling it good and heading home to the safety of my treadmill, but then the sun started to shine it’s gorgeous rays down on us. I stuck it out for a total of 15 miles, and when I got done, I was so glad I did. A bad run outside always trumps a good run on the treadmill. It was great to get some fresh air and I truly enjoyed the company to run with.
Last weeks mileage was down a little bit since I’m starting to taper for the Phoenix marathon. More in my next post on my mad taper skills! Here’s a little bit about what my workouts looked like last week:

In addition to the classes I teach and miles I’ve been logging, I’ve been in the process of reviewing the Mashup Tempo workout DVD, which one lucky reader will have the chance to win! Be sure to enter the raffle below!! Want to know more about the Mashup workouts? Here’s my full review:
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HITT style workouts. I can’t get enough of them. Why? They are short, sweet and to the point. Who doesn’t want to burn maximum calories in minimal amount of time?? That’s what I thought! The Tempo DVD contains 7 individual workouts that are 15 minutes each. This makes the workouts completely customizable. You can do just one segment, or you can stack them and do two or three. Each segment focuses on mind/body, and agility and strength. No fancy equipment required for these workouts either, which makes them great to take along when traveling. As if all of this isn’t enough, the creators give three modifications of each move shown. You simply pick the one that you can do. This gives even more flexibility to the workout. Be sure to enter the raffle below for a chance to win your own copy of the Tempo Mashup DVD.
