Yesterday I returned home from a fabulous vacation in one of my favorite cities – New Orleans. I enjoyed lots of great food, including my favorite desserts – pralines, bread pudding, and bananas foster!
I threw caution to the wind for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed some foods that I have not had in quite some time. After all, it was my birthday weekend. And what’s a birthday without treats??
Now that I am home, it’s time to get focused on some pretty big tasks at hand. I have committed to being a relay runner for MS Run the US 2015. This commitment includes two major pieces – 1) fundraising $10,00 for MS, and 2) running 165 miles in 6 consecutive days.
My running portion of the relay begins June 10. Training officially began today! I have 19 weeks to get my body in tip-top shape and prepared to run a marathon a day, six days in a row! This is going to mean lots of training miles and eating a clean diet that fuels me through the long runs and supports recovery. I’m calling this Operation 165! As you can imagine, this effort is going to take some commitment and determination on my part. I hope that by putting this out here, it will help to keep me accountable. There will be times where I will struggle and my resolve will weaken. I will need the support of everyone around me. So, if you see me eyeballing that carrot cake or downing spoonfuls of almond butter – help set me straight! Don’t let me miss workouts because I’m tired or have some other excuse. Give me that push out the door; join me for a run or at the gym.
Are you wondering how else you might be able to help? I have a big fundraising goal to meet – $10,000! So far I’m about 1/4 of the way there. HyVee on 180th and Q Street has graciously donated a $25.00 gift card to me. The next person to donate $100 (or more) will receive this gift card!! Here’s the link to my fundraising page – Tracy’s Firstgiving page. All donations are tax deductible! Who will be the lucky recipient???
Special shoutout to Brent at HyVee for supporting my fundraising efforts and MS. Thank you!!!
Stay tuned for my next post. I’ll be talking about my recent injury and my husband’s first marathon.
Let’s get this operation started!!
